Call for papers

We are delighted to issue a call for papers for the Catholic Record Society 64th Annual Conference which will take place 11th-13th July, 2022 at the Bar Convent in York, UK. An interactive livestream of the conference will also be made available.

The conference attracts leaders in the discipline of British and Irish Catholic Studies, including the field of British and Irish Catholic diaspora. The conference has a long-standing reputation as a friendly and supportive platform for graduate students and early career researchers especially and we actively encourage proposals from these scholars. 

We are pleased to invite proposals for papers in the following formats:

  • Panels of three papers.
  • Individual 20-minute papers.
  • Work-in-progress 10-minute papers.

Submissions should include a 300 word abstract and a short CV and be sent to: hkilburn@nd.edu  by Friday 29th April 2022. 

We are committed to running an accessible conference and speakers should expect to provide slide decks in advance of the conference taking place to be made available to delegates who require the use of assistive accessibility software. 

Speakers with accessibility needs are asked to provide details of how we can offer support in their submission.

Conference fees:

  • In person attendance + complimentary video download: £75 GBP
  • Livestream attendance + complimentary video download: £40 GBP
  • Video download only: £10 GBP 

Bursaries:

We are delighted to offer a small travel bursary of £150 to support graduate students, early career researchers, and scholars religious to attend the conference. Speakers at the conference will be prioritised. To apply, please provide a brief account of your research and a short CV to hkilburn@nd.edu.
